Sir,

India Office to Foreign Office.-(Received September 24.)

India Office, September 23, 1908. WITH reference to your letter of the 18th July last, and to subsequent correspondence on the subject of the Joint Commission on opium at Shanghae, I am directed by the Secretary of State for India in Council to inform you that he proposes to nominate as the representative of India Mr. James Bennett Brunyate, India Civil Service, who is at present acting as Financial Secretary to the Government of India, and to inquire whether Sir Edward Grey has any objection to the inclusion of that officer as a member of the British delegacy.

With regard to the question of the allowances of the Delegates, I am directed to refer to the inclosures of your letter of the 18th instant, and to inquire whether the proposals of Sir J. Jordan in this respect have been accepted in respect of other British Delegates.
